A day out in Nijmegen
Nijmegen, the oldest town in the Netherlands, used to be home to the Romans and Emperor Charlemagne, whose castle was here in the imperial town by the river Waal. Colourful, bright, open, lively, bubbling and with a pleasant atmosphere - these have been its characteristics for centuries, making it a town very different from any other in this country.

It has small, cosy shops with a pleasant atmosphere only known to the locals, as well as a new shopping street called Marikenstraat. Lange Hezelstraat, on the other hand, is the oldest shopping street in the Netherlands. You can also go for a walk in the lower town where you will find numerous small curiosity shops. "A day out in Nijmegen" will give you full details on the many options.

Welcome to Nijmegen.
